Severe, bare and desert: that’s the way in which the mountain appears from 1,200 metres on, with its most famous peaks: Monte Spada, Bruncu Spina, Punta Paulini e Punta La Marmora, the highest at 1834 metres.

Here rare botanical species still live; moufflons have found there a safe refuge and the eagle,  undisputed queen of this sky, flies over it. On its slopes the yew-trees and hollies have resisted centuries of fires and indiscriminate open pastures.
